Give Thanks! A Call to Remembrance.

Hello friends, as we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I would like to encourage you on a few thoughts.

When life is challenging and we go through circumstances that we do not understand, there is almost an immediate request to ask God for help. On the other hand, when something extraordinary happens to us, we almost immediately give thanks.

The degree of expressing thanksgiving may correlate to the depth of one’s need or the liberty experienced after triumph from a tough circumstance. You see, when you begin to count God’s faithfulness and bring to remembrance just how far He has brought you; you can’t help but give Him thanks.

Remembering and recalling are powerful catalysts for giving thanks. The Bible encourages us to give thanks in all circumstances (1 Thess, 5:18) because when we do, we are comforted with His peace that surpasses all our understanding (Phil. 4:7).

It’s a very comforting feeling to know that our God cares about the things that concern us. We are His people and the sheep of His pasture (Ps. 100:3). Will He not leave the 99 to save the 1? Absolutely! (Luke 15:4-7)

His Goodness and His faithfulness have lasted for generations and today He continues to show up and show out! As we get closer to Thanksgiving Day, remember where and when God met you. Remember when you allowed yourself to fully embrace Him. His goodness is everything and his faithfulness is pure!

We have a tradition in our family on Thanksgiving Day where we go around the table giving everyone an opportunity to recall God’s goodness and faithfulness by sharing one moment, in that current year, where God showed up big in our lives. I would love it if you and those surrounding your table this year would join our family in calling to remembrance God’s goodness and faithfulness by remembering one moment where He was the difference maker.

Happy Thanksgiving!
